The gas tank has been cleaned, sealed and reinstalled. The only thing remaining is reattaching the headlight wires. I sent the owner a video of it running last night. A big thank you to everyone who helped get it running for him again during the Cub Tug.

Doug, can you give us some information on the fuel tank cleaning and sealing process? Thanks.

Don, will have to ask John Martin more about it. My understanding it is a dry process so I imagine it is like soda blasting. They drill a hole to get behind the baffle then install a plug. Then they seal the tank once it is cleaned out.
Price wise I don’t have an exact figure since I also took my Cletrac tank in and they said it was in worse shape and charged more for it. That would put the price under $75.

The choke is hooked up. It is still using the original rod and connection to the choke shaft.

Hi,
In your pic showing the choke rod, it looks like the rod is down rubbing on the Touch Control tubes.
The rod is supposed to be up, just above the tubes.
The rod can wear into the tubes from engine vibration over time if it is rubbing on the tubes.
Below is a page from the 1963 LoBoy operator's manual showing the engine, and the choke rod is just above the tubes.
http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... age-13.jpg
To fix it, you will need to disconnect the rod from the carburetor, and bend it at the bend shown in the pic. Increasing the bend should raise the rod up above the tubes.
Below is a pic showing one on a regular Cub.

Re: The last Cub Tug project is nearly finished
Here is info, if you have any interest.
The 6 volt battery originally faces with the negative post to the rear, and the battery cable to the starter goes out the hole in the battery box on the side of the box, then under the platform, and forward.
Below is a page from the 1965 Cub and LoBoy operator's manual showing the 6 volt battery and cables, in the lower pic on the page.
The manual has 6 and 12 volt info, disregard the 12 volt info if it is a 6 volt LoBoy.

Below is a pic showing where the cable comes out of the battery box.
I have more wire routing info if you want it.

Doug, are some of these before pix? I only ask because I know Bigdog was a part of this project and I know you and him know how the battery is normally oriented. A lot of hands were working on this that weekend and it made for a good project.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks Glen, the battery is located in a non standard configuration against the right fender. The negative cable runs diagonally under the platform and comes up between the fender and platform. The cable is not long enough to route around back. The cub is also sporting a super deluxe seat which I found to be quite comfy when mowing last night.
The owner simply asked if we could get his cub running again as it had been parked in the garage for a few years due to health problems and he wanted to see it running again. It has been his main mowing machine for several years.

Hi,
Thanks for the 2nd pic of the battery and battery box.
I couldn't see in your 1st pic that the box is by the right fender.
I didn't know if you were restoring the LoBoy to original condition or not.
Just some info above if you needed it.
