I’ve noticed this for sale. Thought it was odd that it wasn’t red. Looks factory by the pictures. A couple show what looks like Rex oxide primer, but I see no red. Any idea if International toyed with this combo earlier than 64?
Too bad it’s way over priced. 7500$ CAD

Check the serial number. IH did not use that sheet metal in 1958.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: 1958 Farmall Cub painted white and yellow
Hi,
Yes they did Bill, the hood, grille and names are the original appearance that IH used beginning at Cub serial number 210001, which was made in later 1958.
Below is a page from the Cub parts manual showing it.
http://www.farmallcub.info/manuals/cub_ ... 000-12.jpg
The info at the top of the page says 1958 production was 204389 - 211440
I thought you probably own one or more of those.
Stevetractor, the headlight in the pic probably isn't original, the pic in the link shows IH didn't use the flatback lights after serial number 210000.
I would suppose someone painted it yellow and white, but can't tell without being there and maybe finding some red on it.

Looking at the pic on my phone makes it look almost like a square nose. After blowing the pic up I can see a very distorted front end. The front is very similar to a 1958, but not exactly.

This is a very distorted picture. It appears to be a 58 that has been painted yellow and white. What you’re describing as red primer is probably the original red paint. I have a 61 Loboy, which was originally painted red but re-painted to yellow and white, similar to yours. People painted Cubs any color imaginable. In 1958, they were red, except for special order colors, such as municipal and such.

Hi,
I think the pic is just distorted by the camera, it's distorted at the front of the hood, and the steering wheel looks distorted also.

I can’t find the listing anymore. But you have all made good points I should have caught. First it’s a 204 serial number making it a 58. That sheet metal with the four bar grill and that style of hood emblem didn’t make its appearance till 59. As for the red paint, it does look like primer but IH never used much of that, and we’ll it’s a picture on a cell phone. Someone has done a mash up. But in a picture it seemed believable for a minute. Thanks all

Also picture is probably so distorted because I had to resize it to post it. The bar pointed out on the Hydralic lift arm almost looks like it’s holding up the fast hitch in the front because the screw adjuster is missing.

Lowers the bail part of the fast hitch, so when your cultivting it knocks over all the plants they are trying to protect from the weeds!

Someone "Saw one like that on a Farmall 140, and said why not the Cub!"

Hi,
Read my first post on this page, that style of hood and grille came out in later 1958, according to IH's records.

Yes Glen, you are correct I did read that. I wonder if they were marketed as a 59? Either way you are right.

That is essentially a meaningless phrase in the context of tractor sales, at least back then. They were marketed as Farmall Cubs, regardless of when they came out of the factory.
