Converting 59 deck to lo-boy

Postby Greenthumbfarms » Mon Aug 29, 2022 10:19 pm

I have a Woods 59" deck currently spec'd for a standard Cub. Is it fairly easy to swap one over to a lo-boy, by getting the right mule drive and the "H-arm" instead of the pipe bracket off the back or would I be better off trading this deck and drive for a lo-boy assembly? I have a full spare deck and mule drive and want to set the lo-boy up for finish mowing.

Andy, the easiest route is to find a Woods 59 already set up for a Lo-Boy.

You're far more likely to find the drive with the deck than by itself. Doesn't hurt to keep your eyes open, but they usually come as a matched set. The nice thing about your situation is you don't really care if the deck is beat up and rusted out as long as the mounting brackets are complete and salvageable.

Realistically I would not say no to a complete Woods 59 with the lowboy mule drive and attaches, but I figured it was worth looking into changing mine over.

If you find a good Lo Boy deck, you’ll have one to sell.

Quick answer is don't even try. Second answer is buy a Cub and put the mower on that on.

The only thing that is the same is the deck.

I have 2 regular Cubs with 59 mowers, wanted to switch one onto a lo-boy. I think I'll look for either a trade on a complete deck and drive or buy one and sell a complete regular 59

You may want to consider a belly mount flail mower (Mott). Smaller swath, but does a nice job.
