Woods f-42 and woods 42C parts swapping

Postby Ihandy » Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:59 am

I have a 57 Farmall Cub with fast hitch it came with an f-42 woods mower and I started taking the fast hitch mower apart to repaint it underneath the The swing blades have been modified with bar stock so that the blades can only swing into a straightforward motion so I have a woods 42c with an overriding clutch I was wondering if I could just swap out the spindles housings the complete unit and use the overriding clutch on the fast hitch mower has anybody done this swap

Try looking in the pdf manuals section for a parts books.

Or hit the Woods website for their manuals online for the parts books!

Almost identical in looks.

Might even use most of the same basic parts

After working a few days tearing apart my two mowers and repainting the 42F fast hitch mower I got the looking at my old blades on the fast hitch model and they were worn out so I started searching the internet looking for replacements it wasn't done until I realized that they were mounted upside down I got the looking at the other spindle with a slip clutch and realize that turn clockwise and the fast hitch mower turns counterclockwise no I've been trying to find blades there will fit the original spindle also thought it over and realize that the slip clutch would not work turning counterclockwise so I aborted that idea almost have the more repainted just need to reassemble and the mower is actually a 42 f2 I've tried looking on this site in the manual section but there isn't one listed in the fastest version does not open up for me it says site can't be reached so I'd like to find a part number if anybody knows the part number for the reverse swing blades let me know thanks

I think 3980 is the part# for the ccw blade. 3980KT is the # for a set of two.
