Making a mid-mount blade
I really want to have an mid-mount blade for my cub but have not had a lot of luck finding a blade that doesn't have a tractor attached to it already. LOL Has many out there made their own blades? I have the fabricating skills to build it but was more concerned about the design of it. I don't have the metal laying around so will have to purchase all the supplies but I do have a local place that I can buy second hand metal from. Not sure if the time and effort are worth it or I should just keep watching for something local to eventually show up. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Making a mid-mount blade
You can always buy a cub with a good blade, remove the blade and resell the cub... Many of us have done that before. You could end up with a free blade!
Or better yet, keep both cubs!

JPs should have the blade. If not I have one in Linn, Mo. JPs would be less expensive considering the milage.

Re: Making a mid-mount blade
Buying them "loose" also increases the chance something is missing. Seeing it mounted reduced that chance. I have bought tuff tires with cubs attached and a lot of attachments with cubs attached.
Somehow I never end up selling the cub like the original plan.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Re: Making a mid-mount blade
Thanks for all the great replies. Most likely I will just find me another Cub that has the blade and do as recommended by taking the blade off and selling the tractor. My only fear is the Selling the spare tractor part. I'm afraid that once I get it home I wont want it to leave! LOL

Almost guaranteed!!

Same thing when you buy a "cheap" cub "just for some parts"...end up realizing the parts cub is sometimes better than your original, and would be fairly easy to get running...just needs a couple parts....!!!!

That's how some of us got our start.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Yup. Purchased a 154 as a parts tractor for my standard Cub. $10 in parts and had it working. Still using it.Larrys1948Cub wrote:My only fear is the Selling the spare tractor part. I'm afraid that once I get it home I wont want it to leave! LOL
