Needed some holes for a few saplings I intend to transplant around the yard. Using Walter (‘48 Cub) with a 12” auger on the Grosshart Posthole digger works nice.

Plant them low, they won't grow.
Plant them high, they'll reach the sky.

Re: Getting Ready to Plant Trees
Planting this fall or next spring?
I'm planning on planting trees next spring. I have to use the backhoe to dig a deep wide hole in the combination soil and gravel. Pick out the big rocks. Refill the hole with a mixture of the remaining soil and top soil.

I have an excuse. CRS.
