Radiator drain plug stuck

Postby Svicesv » Mon Nov 28, 2022 11:03 am

the radiator drain plug is stuck in my IH cub 1970 model. I have drilled it but my 10 inch Craftsman adjustable wrench broke trying to turn it. What size is that drain plug and thread count? I have searched the manuals and could not find the size of the plug. I plan on retapping the threads. I may have to oversize it. Thanks!

Use a rust penetrant and some heat.

I believe it is a 3/8 NPT.

If and when you get that plug remove I suggest a brass plug replacement with some TFE paste on the threads so the next generation Cub care taker won’t have the same problem. We have ALL been there at one time or another!
