A 1972 Cub would be the later square nose. Yours would be a 1950. If you click on the Cub subforum, about 6 posts down is Raymond Durban's database. It has enough dates that you could probably narrow yours down somewhat.

The engine serial number in your picture, the number to the right of the carburetor, is a 1950 serial number. The engine serial number isn't the same as the tractor serial number in 1950.
You can look in the Database Bob wrote above and see.
