9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket-SOLVED
What is it for? The hole is threaded for a coarse thread bolt. I have some 9/16" fine thread that came from somewhere off a Cub, but have no idea what attaches to these holes. My first LoBoy so I'm not too familiar with them.

Did I miss your post stating that you acquired a LoBoy? My apologies if I missed it. Pictures?

Sure they aren't 5/8 threads? Maybe for the cross bar of a swinging drawbar? I don't know, don't recall ever seeing a Lo-Boy with one.

Definitely 9/16. Stanton, I picked it up locally about 6 weeks ago. It's a 1957. Runs strong, but covered in grease and oil. I'm sure a lot of seals will need attention.

Hi,
Below are pics of the brackets from TM Tractor, there is a hole in each bracket, besides the 3 holes for adjusting the drawbar height, I guess they are for.
I don't know if that is what yours has.

Yes, that single hole in the middle of the bracket is threaded.

Here you go. it looks like it is number six in the exploded view. http://savethecub.com/manuals/parts/cub ... -loboy.htm
I don't believe a Loboy final drive has front implement bolt holes like a Cub so the swinging drawbar anchor bolts to the drawbar bracket.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
Unless there is a different swinging drawbar for the LoBoy, the holes on the one I have take a tapered shoulder bolt like the brackets.

Bob, the Loboy takes a different anchor bar than a Cub. http://savethecub.com/manuals/parts/cub ... ar-cub.htm

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
The parts catalog calls out the same part number for bolting on the swinging drawbar crosspiece as is called out for the main drawbar (tapered head). I believe that both major parts of a Lo-Boy swinging drawbar are shorter than the corresponding parts of a Farmall swinging drawbar. (again, no first-hand experience).

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
The 9/16" bolt hole has me puzzled. It should be 5/8" to match the bolt. I will try to remember to check mine tomorrow.

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
Bob, you did not say if the brackets are OEM or repro (you might not know). When I got my 57 LoBoy it was missing all of the rear finals attaching hardware and a PO had heavily modified a Bush Hog 412 mule drive and mower to fit on it. I was lucky enough to find a Pennington mule drive (thanks Mr. Bill Hudson) and a FH (thanks tst) for my LoBoy and thus resolved having to find and fit the brackets and drawbar as you have done. Good Luck with the puzzle. I also realize that this has nothing to do with your original question! Stan

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
Thanks. That explains what the hole is for, but not the size. Both are oem brackets and both holes are 9/16". I doubt that I'd ever have a use for a swinging drawbar, so those holes will always remain unused. I would be interested to know if others have the smaller hole on their LoBoy brackets.

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
Well, I just went out and checked out one of my Loboys this morning (it is cold out there). It has 9/16" holes as well. But as Jim says, the parts manual call for the same 5/8" as the drawbar.

Re: 9/16" threaded hole in LoBoy drawbar bracket
Where do you even find a 9/16 bolt? I tried one side of mine. A 5/8 bolt will not screw into it. But I am reasonably sure that the hole has 56 years accumulation of crud in it. I think a 5/8 tap would clean it up.
