It grinds while driving or it grinds when shifting into gear?

Do they grind after you have been running a while...after it is warmed up some? Also, what tranny oil are you using?

When it the last time you changed the trans oil? It not for some time there may be a good deal of water in the in and it can freeze. I would change the oil and see if the problem goes away.

Remove the shifter cover and gently probe, with a screwdriver, in the bottom of the transmission case for ice. If you find any, follow inairam’s advice. After you drain, flush with a little diesel or kerosene to get any residual water out. Refill with 3.5 PINTS of gear oil.
