Hello,
I recently purchased a package of equipment for my Cubs that included a model 23-A Disk Harrow. Does anyone use this Harrow? The one I purchased is need of some repair and I already have a 3 point Harrow for my big tractor. I can't decide if it is worth the time to repair it. Thanks very much.
BR,
Mike

Re: 23-A Harrow
I use one and love it. I will say that depending on soil, and set angle, that it can be a load for a cub. I have heavy clay base soil and if conditions aren’t just right when I plow, it will work the cub hard. Just makes me be more careful about choosing when to plow

How do you move it when not using it to cut?

Adjust till there is no angle to the blades. Lift the rope and back up to the last notch. And pull along the ground. Leaves hardly any trace behind.

I wouldn’t roll it across a manicured lawn, but this is how it’s done

Re: 23-A Harrow
I have a 3 pt. for the wifes 8N as well as the 23A. I like the Cub better in the garden because, although I have to stop and straighten it when I turn around on the grass, it does a lot better job, cutting the soil a lot finer.

Re: 23-A Harrow
I had a 23a years ago and I agree with John, it did a real nice job. When I sold my 1st Cub, I let it go with it. I do know a fellow, near by, who has one he’d let go, if someone is looking.

It can be a bit rough on blacktop too.
I observed the same as John and Gary. I have a 23A and a 38 with the Lo-Boy Fast-Hitch. In most situations the 23A does a much better job. (And not just because it is a tandem that leaves the dirt about where it found it.)

Driving it with the disk straight and it makes a little cut but not much. I put a chain towards the back and hook it up to the rock shaft to lift it up a bit

Re: 23-A Harrow
I think the reason the 23a does a nicer job is because it floats and follows the terrain, and, of course, it’s tandem.
