I have several CUBs with hoods that are bent from the front lights catching a tree branch and creasing the front sides of the hood. Other than taking a hammer and pounding them out does anyone have a good method for making them look straight ?

Re: Sheet metal body work on CUB
I use a set of fender hammers and anvils that get the shape pretty close and then use Bondo to recreate the form. If it is an edge then use the bondo with fibers.

Or you can find a donor hood with a rusted out tank. Cut the same shape out of both hoods and weld the good piece in. Takes some pretty fancy welding and grinding, though. I’ve seen it done with a generator cut-out.

Re: Sheet metal body work on CUB
The sheetmetal on a Cub is thick enough to take some heat without warping too much. You might try annealing the area you intend to straighten before you smack it around. Annealing will soften it and make it more pliable.

Appreciated the annealing tip and the video was most informative ! To be honest I probably would have thrown that hood out.
