54 Grader blade parts

Postby Nosparkplug » Fri Mar 17, 2023 3:56 pm

I have a 54 Grader blade that is in need of the cutting edge. I can find it for larger blades. Does anyone know where one can be found or of a work around? TIA

I've got an extra one that I made this last fall but it would cost you as much to get it to SC as it cost me to make...

Charles,
I’ve had several made by a local steel fabricator my son worked for. 1/4” x 4” x 54” hot rolled steel barstock.

I had one waterjet cut out of a scrap of 3/8 rolled homogeneous armor (MIL-DTL-12560) by a fabricator.

I've made several. Drill the holes round and then square the corners for the carriage bolt shoulder with a triangular or square file.

With Don’s pdf, Peter’s bar stock suggestion and Bob’s guidance for the holes I feel like even I could make it. Thanks. All of y’all are the best!

Be sure to compare/verify the hole locations with your grader blade. My blade hole locations for the cutter blade were a little different and, A square file is your friend.

The center hole is offset from center. By adding a 2nd hole offset the same amount, you get to flip it 4 ways.
My blade tends to wear on the left.

That explains the 2 holes in the center of Don’s drawing.

Actually, it is not my drawing. It is available in the PDF Manuals section, along with several other parts drawings.
