Oil filter size difference

Postby JimCub48 » Tue Mar 21, 2023 4:21 pm

Doing spring oil and filter changes, and have two different oil filters , Baldwin PT135 ,and Napa 1153, both for the cub engine first time I noticed this they are a little different in size, they both are 4 5/8 inches in length, the Baldwin PT 135 diameter is 2 1/2 inches, the Napa 1153 is 2 1/4 inches diameter , they both fit fine. Is one a better filter then the other ? More filtering material ?

A quarter inch isn't much. Depending on how it is folded, the smaller one could actually have more filtering material. I would use either one and not worry about it.

Regardless of the calendar, I'm not calling it spring yet. It was snowing here earlier this afternoon.

Napa is made by Wix. That and Baldwin (in my opinion) are the two best filter manufacturers. Some tolerances have to be slightly changed for patent and licensing
