Re: 1957 Lo-Boy followed me home
I picked up a good set of 8.3x24 AG tires (on 7" rims) and a used hood with a really clean gas tank this past Saturday. The hood is the wrong year but I'll make do. The tires are branded "Premium" and marked "Made in USA". If I'm reading the codes right they were mfg'd by Continental at their Kentucky plant. Next up, paint the rims and discs, and then the hood.

It's starting to clean up pretty good. Underneath all that brown it's not as bad as it first looks to be.

Progress. A question, did IH ever offer black wheel discs on the Cub? I picked up a pair of discs and they are black thru and thru.

I don’t think IH ever did. But, I think those same wheels and rims were used on other brands of compact tractors. Economy Power King, for one.

Yes Don, Tha same centers on Gibson also. Even had the IH part number in the ones I seen. I have a NOS rear wheel center and it is primer yellow.

Re: 1957 Lo-Boy followed me home
Aha, did not know they used the same wheels and discs. That would explain the black. Someone must have swapped them onto the Cub they came off of sometime in the past.

Re: 1957 Lo-Boy followed me home
The wheels on the other brand tractors had different mounts (brackets) on the rim than a Cub. Same size rim.

Re: 1957 Lo-Boy followed me home
This will not be a restoration but rather a refurb so to that end I am painting sections piecemeal. So far the engine, bolster, torque tube, both finals, and the outsides of both rear fenders have been painted. The tough part is going to be the deck, which is heavily pitted. I freed up all the pedals and readjusted the brakes so the left and right work together now. I tried to widen the front to match the rear wheels but shes not budging. I don't want to yank the axle and make the tractor undriveable so I may end up shopping for another Lo-Boy front axle to work on. I'm still mulling that over.

Nice looking paint job on the rims. Did you mask of the tires with tape or is there an easier way?
Thanks

Re: 1957 Lo-Boy followed me home
I had this 57 Loboy pre-restoration. #6027
Did enough work to run it, but it sat under a tarp for too long so I sold it to a forum member out in Illinois who put a ton of time into it.
