54a grader blade with Fast Hitch

Postby Schu » Tue Aug 01, 2023 11:27 am

I have a 1948 Cub with a later model Fast Hitch. Helper spring and screw type height adjustment.
I want to also mount a 54a grader blade. Is this possible?
Thanks!

If you want to front mount it, yes. If you want to mid mount it, yes. But, it requires a substitute drawbar to accomplish.

It's just a piece of flat bar stock with a right angle on each end. Probably a drawing of it in the pdf files or someone can give you the measurements.

This is the substitute drawbar you need to use with the Fast Hitch.

Detailed instructions for mounting and adjustment are in the Owners Manual, Leveling and Grader Blade 54A located in the pdf manuals folder under Quick links tab, top left corner of this page.

There may be some confusion on the detailed views of the triangular bracket in the drawing. One view shows the bracket dimensions and the other view shows the hole dimensions. Only one bracket is used with the substitute drawbar.

I very much appreciate the help here.
One of our vendor sponsors had a substitute drawbar in stock.
It is on the way to me now. The blade should be mounted well in time gif the first Minnesota snow.

Schu,
You only need the Substitute Drawbar to mid-mount the blade on a tractor with Fast Hitch for grading work where you have better control over the blade.
Plowing snow with the blade mid-mounted is not going to work very well.

I guess the question is, where are you mounting the blade?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Plan is to mid mount the blade. Probably better for snow to front mount. But I will try it this way.

Give it a try, then you'll know for yourself. :tractor:

Do you have the adjustable front axle or fixed?
