Emblem attachment question

Postby WVScott » Sun Oct 15, 2023 5:48 pm

Dumb question - what are the little black metal clips with a hole in them that hold the LO-Boy, International, etc emblems on the hood etc called?
Pulled everything off to clean, strip, and paint and figured I would replace these clips but I was not really sure what to call them to try and buy/lookup some.
THANKS

they are a molding clip, a decent auto body supply store should be able to help you with them

Thank you - Mine are totally flat so I am guessing they are not really the correct ones. That helped clear it up.
THANKS!

The flat rectangular ones are called TINNERMAN NUTS, and Lowe's use to carry them.
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... dpEALw_wcB

Auto Zone has PUSH NUTS, the round ones:
https://www.autozone.com/nuts-bolts-and ... lsrc=aw.ds

And TM has the round push nuts in 2 different sizes, too:

Hi,
The 2 clips that hold the IH emblem on the front of the hood are a different size than the other clips that hold the names on the sides of the hood. They are different part numbers in Stan's parts picture above.
The part numbers are at 4, 23, and 24.
There is a page with pictures of the emblems in the parts manual.

It probably does not matter that the answer to your question that I posted might might not be technically correct since you did not give a SN reference to your Cub LoBoy but if it is the 1957 listed in your profile it is correct since the information picture is for SN 10000 and below. Sorry if I messed up.

If you indeed have a 1957 Cub Loboy, the tubular clip number is 363784R1. I have also heard of them being referred to as a barrel clip. Most reputable parts houses have them in stock. Try a NAPA store.

the white under the emblem is a decal not paint - if you are redoing the hood. 57 is my favorite year.

I think member TST may have them.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

From anything I have been able to determine, it appears that the white background was added in November, 1956. That would be Farmall number 197825 and Lo-Boy number 3772.

Thanks. I have Lo-boy serial number 5756 so that is interesting. It did not appear to have been repaired/repainted so that is really interesting. If it should have the white I am guessing it must have been at some point and they did a good job except for adding the white strip. I appreciate the information!!

As stated earlier, the white panel was a water transfer decal, not paint. Water transfer decals are much more fragile than paint and can actually disappear over time.
