Cub Planter Sidedresser Question

Postby BSR » Tue Oct 17, 2023 5:40 pm

I pick up some parts the other night and thought I had a 201 planter both side sidedresser unit that goes on a Cub. BUT it's not. Anyone know what that rod that sticks out with sprocket on goes too?
Thanks Brad

It looks to me like a fertilizer unit with the extra hopper attachment. What about it makes it not that?

did the dual fertilizer for the cub use a countershaft that bolted under the clutch housing and connected to the upper countershafts by chain and gears ?

Yes. The countershaft is essentially an extension of the shaft that has the fertilizer drive clutch on it. It crosses to the left side below the clutch housing. It has a sprocket to drive the left fertilizer can. I haven't seen many of them, not very familiar with them.

The one for the 201 planter may have been a different layout but was similar. It may have been a different attachment that fit both the Cub and Super A. Maybe that is what BSR is looking at and asking about. HIs pictures look like the regular Cub fertilizer attachment (different from the Cub/Super A attachment?).

I'd love to see it mounted. I'm having a hard time visualizing how the shaft with the u-joints goes...... :D

The shaft passes below the bell housing, about under the center of the Touch-Control unit.
