I4 magneto will it fit cub

just wondering if an I4 magneto will fit and work properly on a cub that has a j4 on it now

I believe it can be bolted on and the engine will run. But the lag angle is way wrong for the Cub engine. You wouldn't be able to get the timing right. I don't know if you could overcome the problem by using a J-4 impulse coupling.

Lag angle/advance for the H4 is 35 degrees for gas tractors. Lag angle for the Cub is 13 degrees. So, not work.

The I4 Mag has a different spark advance than the J4.
