Re: Repro tach mount?
Thanks, I searched on the part numbers and found a storefront (Bates) on Ebay that has both parts. Don't know why I didn't find that the first time around. ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

Re: Repro tach mount?
I think I've come across a guy who has new old stock clamps that hold the tach to the brackets
I'll let you know what I find

I bought the 2 tach brackets recently. He will discount shipping if you buy both as long as you ask in advance.
Also, regarding the curved bracket, the tab that is cut out where the clamp goes through on mine wasn’t bent open enough to allow a SS hose clamp to go through. Easily rectified but mine came primed and I didn’t notice it until after I painted it red.

I am curious if anybody knows if there is anything special about this IH tach clamp. My plan is to buy a 5/8” wide SS hose clamp that tightens to about 3”. I know that it is metal clamping onto a painted metal surface. Not sure if that will be prone to loosen over time with vibration. Not sure if there is a clamp with a rubber lining that might hold better or if there is something unique about the original clamp.

Re: Repro tach mount?
Regarding the other tach parts, Tach Drive Assy, Connector Housing, Cable, etc. I have not shopped around but I know Steiner sells the 3 parts I just mentioned and buying all three will run $145 at Steiner. Steiner has for the last couple of years had a Black Friday sale with a pretty good discount but you have to spend $100 or more. Discount was bigger if you spent $200 and so on. Not sure what they’ll do this year but it might be worth looking into since it’s only 10 days to Thanksgiving. Precision Parts or others may have a sale or better prices. I have no idea. I am just adding a tach for the heck of it on one Cub and all I have are the brackets and the India made tach just arrived today.

Re: Repro tach mount?
The tach clamp is just a hose clamp and was available still thru Case IH and they were reasonable a couple years ago. Nothing special about them.

Re: Repro tach mount?
Hi,
lyle11, You need several parts at the Battery Ignition unit for the tachometer drive.
Below is a page from the Cub parts manual showing the tach.
You need parts 9 - 13 for the drive. Plate number 9 has a hole in it, and it needs longer screws than the cover with no tach has. The screw size is at the description for 9.
http://www.farmallcub.info/manuals/cub_ ... 011-02.jpg
You may need to remove the Battery Ignition unit to put in the screw toward the engine, the drive sticks out of the hole, and you may not be able to get to it to tighten it without removing the Battery Ignition unit. It's better to turn the engine to number 1 cylinder TDC before removing the Battery Ignition unit, so you don't lose the timing position.
Don't tip the front of the Battery Ignition unit down when off the engine, the drive shaft will probably slide out onto the floor.
Put grease on the tach drive parts when installing them. Grease the drive cable so it turns easily.
The bends in the cable should be gradual, so the cable can turn easily.
The drive cable goes from the tach, along just above the bottom edge of the left side of the hood, and then over the top of the Touch Control unit, to the right side, and around the oil filter housing, just above the oil gauge, to the Battery Ignition unit.
The right length cable fits about exactly in that position.
Below is a link to a post from August telling about the Cub tach.
