Sometimes life just throws you an unexpected curve and suddenly everything changes. My wife of 63 years has been diagnosed with Mixed Dementia, part Vascular/part Alzheimer's (her sister died from Alzheimer's). Her memory capabilities have deteriorated significantly since last Fall. Sometimes she is ok but sometimes she gets into a brain fog and becomes very anxious and nervous. If we go somewhere she doesn't want to loose sight of me. She doesn't even want to wait by the door, wherever we are, while I fetch the truck. Because she also has Post-Polio-Syndrome and can't walk distances anymore I got a Handicap Placard for the truck. So, no (or virtually no) more tractor shows. I had to cancel out of the three day event up in Bloomsburg next month. Looks like I'm going to be a homeboy from now on and so I'll be selling off my Lo-Boy along with all the spare parts I've gathered. I will be converting the tractor room downstairs to an American Flyer train room so I have something to tinker with. I'm going to miss the folks on here and those friends I've made at the shows but such is life. It's been fun. Thanks for all the help you guys and gals have been over the years.
Larry

So sorry to hear of your wife’s medical issues. Even though you may not be as active in the Cub world as you once were, we’d still like to hear from you from time to time.

Re: Things change
Larry, so sorry to hear of the turn of events in your life. While it's not any consolation to hear of others problems, it lets us know that "life" happens to all of us to one degree or another so we just have to adapt to the "new normal" and adjust as best we can. (I now do a lot more thinking and reading the forums than I do working on projects.) As Don said, keep in touch. You still have a wealth of knowledge to share with others. Stan

Thanks guys, I'll hang around a while. I still sometimes visit the antique Jeep forum and I sold that Jeep 8 years ago. Tough to just walk away.

Re: Things change
I'm so very sorry. Please talk to her physician about the lack of clarity "brain fog" that she is experiencing. This is pretty common and there are some pretty good medications to assist.

Larry, I'm so sorry for your wife's condition. My older brother has 2 types of dementia and he doesn't drive anymore. He has his good days and bad days, and on his good days, he likes to go to his workshop and mess with things.
I always enjoyed your posts, so as mentioned above, keep in touch from time to time.

Re: Things change
Larry, so sorry to hear about your wife and her condition and that you’re getting rid of your lowboy. My mother has had a similar problem for the last two years due to fatty liver disease shortly after her heart surgery, she came down with memory fog and ended up in a zombie like state for different times. It’s called hepatic encephalopathy the doctors discovered an extra blood vessel growing from her spleen to her kidney as big as her thumb it is larger than the aorta, which is supposed to be the biggest blood vessel in anyone’s body. She just recently had surgery to embolize that blood vessel about a month ago doctor said he did not get it all closed off. It was too big and she may need another surgery. However, it’s been a month and her mind is cleared up some show only has short term, memory problems, and I still have to take care of her medicines food I have help from her sister that gives me some relief and time to spend away from home. Otherwise working on the Cubs is what keeps me sane I just picked up a greater blade to fix and almost have it done. My prayers will be with you.
