Joe, have you considered a flail mower for your needs?
If you are not part of the solution,

For a 'field' I am happy with the C-2... pretty much will mow anything you can get under it. The Woods 42 is very similar.

If it ain't a lawn either would suit your needs. They have swinging blades and an overrunning clutch (won't drive the tractor when it's disengaged). I think less power needed to keep em running.

Never used a flail mower, but believe it would be good too. That's what they use along highways around here. (I may have one for sale soon, but for a Lo Boy)

I have been able to buy blades, blade bolts and the center (spindle) bushing from IH dealers. Got the belt from NAPA.

Hey Buzzard, my Dad just gave me a C2 when he gave me one of his old Cubs. Do you remember the belt number at Napa that your purchased for it?

See if Rudi has the parts list on his site... if not let me know I have one. With that you can cross reference using non napa part # at napaonline.com.

The IH part number is 477180R1 unless you have a standard Cub with Fast-Hitch. In that case it is 474081R1.

The NAPA site will cross reference to their numbers.

A lot of it depends on what you are wanting to cut. I have a Woods L59 Finish Mower on my cub that I have been using for over 3 years and I am very happy with it. It cuts great in 1st and 2nd gear and will even cut in 3rd gear on the flat spots since I had the motor rebuilt.

It ALL depends on what you want to cut...

I have a Woods 59 but have never used it (guess the guy that is painting it knew I was looking to snowblow with it...) I would never think of using it up north (rough, rocks, ledge and stumps). I figure that is more for a lawn or a field that is regularly mowed with no hidden stuff.

The Woods 59 blades look like most any lawnmower blade, but the C-2 blade has some heft to it... (works pretty well even when beyond all done) http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Bu ... 2Small.jpg

But your decision may be more about what you can find (at a reasonable price). Be careful about gettting all the hardware, best is to get one on Cub (like you are going to mount it on) so you know it's all there.

This isn't even all the parts for a Woods on a Cub:

I may have some kind of spare mower soon, but it will be for a Lo Boy... and that is different!
