Bushhog Bellymower

Postby LYNYRD » Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:20 am

I would like to see the mounting set up for a bushhogg bellmower, I have the mower but do not have the complete mounting frame, nor do I know what one looks like.

Lynard - I'm not 100% sure but it looks like you may have the mounting frame but are missing the mule drive which holds the idler pulleys. Take the box frame you have there and position it under the tractor between the rear wheels and see if the bolt holes line up with the holes in the final drives. Hopefully, someone who has one will show some pictures of the frame mounting and mule drive assembly.

Lynyrd,

I think I found it once in Google Patents...I'll take a look again and see if I can again, and will post link.

Here it is:

I have the same mower, but the hub is frozen and the deck is rusted through. If you need the back assembly that mounts between the final drives, send me a PM and I'll send pictures.

Charles,

I have almost two of these mowers, trying to make one good one. If Charles (Corky's Cub) can't set you up, let me know what you need.

Also, if needed, I could take some pictures at Christmas, although neither of mine is currently on the tractor.

By the way, when it was on the tractor, even though my mower needed help, I was pleased with th eway it cut...

Dad's doesnt have the bracketry like I've seen on a lot of mowers supporting his - his is a chain. Not sure how original this is, but here's an option.

Rick and Andrew:

I'm sending some pictures to Lynyrd tomorrow so he can see how the bull bar looks on my Bus Hog, which is the same as his.

Since I'm not going to use my Bush Hog, do you need any parts off mine to complete yours? Send me a PM, and I'll send you pictures.

Take care,

Corky/Charles

Charles:

Could you also send me as much as you can in pics and info on the Bush Hog Belly Mower you have :?: We do not have any information ie.. manuals etc... for this particular mower. Any help you can give would be ideal.

For those who also have this type of mower, pics of the mower, mounting brackets etc., would be greatly appreciated. :!: :D

Will do Rudi. I have several emails somewhere from a long-serving service/parts technician at Bush Hog in Alabama, which include an attachment of the manual for the model 412. It shows the later version like the one Rick Spivey has, (see his post and picture here), but the guy at Bush Hog said mine, (like the one shown here by Lynryd), is more than likely just an earlier version of the model 412.

Bush hog mower

Postby Randall Cole » Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:32 pm

I have a bush hog belly mower with the original linkage. I'll take a picture and send it to you. You are missing the rear portion. Meesicks has parts diagrams for this unit on line. Its a 412C.

Mule Drive

Postby LYNYRD » Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:41 pm

Is the mule drive for the bushhog belly mower the same type mule drive used for the woods 42c belly mower? Thanks

Man that is a nice looking mower deck...very practical and I am sure does the job well. I contacted BushHog a few minutes ago and although its been 15+ years since the end of production they did say they could help out with parts.

So if anybody needs parts for these let me know and I will see what they cost through the dealership instead of directly from BH.

Hey guys,

Here's the promised pictures of my 412 and the mounting hardware. The first is of the deck from the rear, showing the pulley and mounting assembly for Lynyrd:

Image

The second is a closeup of the pulley assembly. Note that the large mounting plates are "field fixes"...the mounting frame is straight bars.

Image

The third is an even closer closeup of the pulley brackets...one pulley is broken on mine.

Image

The fourth is a side view of the entire mower and mounting assembly.

Image

And the fifth is a closeup of the spindle pulley for Rick Spivey:

I also found a pdf of the parts manual from BushHog for the 412 series mowers, which shows everything in super detail. If anyone can help me upload it, we'll get Rudi to post it on the manual server.

Hope this helps everyone!

Lynyrd, Corky and I have been discussing what type belly mower that I have and have almost decided it's a Woods 42C. If it is in fact a 42C, then the rear mounting looks identical, will get some pics up today on mine. Pete

The mounting system on mine looks a lot beefier than the Bush Hog with a few minor differences.
