One piece at a time ???? I once shipped a guitar to a friend and took it all apart to ship it overseas…His idea and it somehow bypassed customs and was way cheaper….It was a long time ago and I forget the particulars…Just a thought ….….Reading it over not a very good one….

East coast of the US to Australia?

I think you could hire a local machinist to reproduce all the parts from blueprints, and build one from scratch, for less money.

What kind of import duty on the thing? I know some antique car people have really been put through the ringer getting cars and parts down under.

Normally the mule drive for the 59 mower sandwiches the drawbar brackets. Looks like that one has some kind of a plate or spacer, possibly drawbar brackets painted white?? I agree the fast hitch stuff is worth $$, there is surely someone looking for them for their incomplete Fast Hitch.Image

Well , as I mentioned before , I've been quoted $1800 to get it from the east coast (USA) to the east coast of Australia.
That was an all up cost - door to door.
Just have to work on the cub now.

For arguements sake , if a cub came with a Woods mower like the one pictured , how much would
that be worth to sell. I'm not interested in mowing lol...
Cripes - I thought I'd never get one.

How expensive are they? Must be pretty bad if you are willing to spend so much to ship!

The only one I've for sale down here was $8000 , and it was pretty rough.
There are more for sale in New Zealand ranging from $2500 to a fully retored one for $12000 on "trademe"

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

$1800 doesn't sound so bad when you're talking about $8000 for something local... You could buy a really nice one and ship it and have it for about $5000, not including duties.

Maybe one of the guys here could "broker" the deal for you? Look at the Cub, buy it, market anything you don't want off of it (i.e. a mower), and hand it off to your shipper.

That was the plan Matt , but just got back in contact with the guy who had the cub and it was just sold.
I'll have to start the search again...

Just utilized the currency calculator to find the exchange rate for US vs, AU, and NZ currency.

Some of the prices in "TradeMe" for New Zealand appear to be reasonable.

I don't know, but it appears to me that shipping a Cub from New Zealand to Australia would be considerably less expensive than transporting a tractor from central USA to the coast and then the shipping container to Australia.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I just got the current issue of Red Power Magazine and found something that may be of help. In an article written by Ken Updike, he stated that he had shipped containers full of International equipment overseas. In past articles, he has mentioned shipping equipment internationally.

If you are committed to importing a Cub, he might be a person to contact. He is an International/Farmall expert, works daily as a CIH partsman, and is in touch with countless sources of "stuff" on a daily basis. His contact information is:

ph...855-934-2388
FX...608-934-5545
my email there.. kenu@johsontractor.com

Probably worth an email to explore the possibilities.

Good luck.

You mentioned the port of L.A. but what other ports? I live in the Spokane, WA area which is about 300 miles from the port of Seattle. I looked on Craigslist and found two Cubs that are close to me and priced reasonable. I have not seen either Cub so cannot attest to condition.

That email is actually kenu@johnsontractor.com. The first "n" was missing in Don's post.
