If you're talking about the rectangular holes front and back of the housing (the brake rods go through the front ones), I have stubby wooden wedges in all 4 of mine - to keep the darn mice out of the housing during the winter storage period. I'm tired of oily mouse nests in there. Why is it so attractive for mice? Do they think transmission oil gently strained through a leaky seal is like fine Kentucky bourbon??? Al D
