Firewood Processing

Postby Urbish » Sat May 23, 2020 12:43 pm

I had a 60+ foot cherry tree near the highway and paid a tree service to drop it on the ground safely for me. I cut, split, and loaded my 3rd trailer full this morning with the Cubs. Looks like I'll have one more load after this.

Oh yes, anything less than 2" in diameter has been set aside and will get sawzall'd up into short chunks for drying on a big tarp in the yard. I'll use the sawzall in lieu of the chain saw as I don't really want to be smoking meat over wood with a fine layer of bar & chain oil stuck to it.

Early spring I trimmed up an apple tree. Used pruning shears to cut the branches down to smoker size. Got about 2 tightly packed milk crates full of smoker wood.

I only used the sawzall on branches larger than 1 1/2"
