Bought used in 2012, I repainted it, bought a grill at Cub-Arama, new front tires, replaced the foot treads, made a new hood ornament and applied decals. Has the KT-17 Series II V-twin engine; has plenty of power. The serial number places it in 1983, so technically produced by MTD under the Cub Cadet Corp (CCC), but still has the cast iron tranny/axle. MTD used a lot of the parts left over during the first few years after the buy-out in 1981. Generally, if the axles were painted black, they were made by MTD, while the IH made Cub Cadets had their axles painted red.
