1997 Scotts that mows Vietnam Veteran's Park

Postby Zorro » Sat Nov 01, 2014 8:02 pm

After I retired I needed something to do so I volunteered to do something for the Town's Recreation Department. I was asked to mow and maintain the area around the Vietnam Veterans monument area which is something I am proud to do. This old Scotts comes eagerly to work, and only complains if she runs out of gas. The Silverado is a half ton 2003 with 138k. It towed my Cub home from 70 miles away without a whimper. She's a keeper too!

Thank you for helping your community and keeping a great monument beautiful. I know the veterans appreciate your work too.

Nice setup too! You know when you have a good vehicle and you keep them for a long time :)

Scott's, that's a John Deere isn't it?

I believe you are right that John Deere built it, but it is branded as a Scotts. Mine is a Model 42561x8a, and according to Tractordata.com; this model was built for Scotts from 1992 until 2002. JD built them for Scotts, as did some other manufacturers.

As far as my rig goes; Heck, I can buy a brand new truck, trailer, or tractor anytime I feel like it. This is what works for me right now, and it will work for years to come with some oil and grease. :)

Anyway, I'm proud to be doing my little bit for the Vietnam Vets. I served in the Army from '72 to '74, so I missed Vietnam. I have a ton of respect for those who served in Vietnam, and of course all U.S. and Allied vets everywhere.
