Re: New fr Atlantic Canada
Plot twist: turns out its a standard A. I’m hopeful this means implements will be transferrable between my machine and my father’s Super A.
We had it running by injecting fuel into the carb through the hole just below the exhaust manifold but we couldn’t get the carb to deliver fuel to the engine properly. Disintegrated gaskets and seized jets. I’m hoping to find a replacement carburetor. The good news is everything else seems to be operational.

I also hail from Atlantic Canada, specifically N.B.
Which Province are you located in?
It is great to hear from a fellow Canuck on the forum!
Keep us updated on the process of getting the Cub running. The folks here love progress updates and will be more than happy to assist in any way they can!
Also we all love pictures of the process, tear-down, rebuild, or what-is-its.
I’m from NB as well. Keswick Ridge area although I grew up near St Stephen. Know where I can find a carburetor for my A?

You could try this guy, https://chowntractorparts.com/
I had looked him up when I was looking for parts for my Cub.
His web site is pretty basic, but he does respond quickly to email.
He has items from all makes and models it appears.

Re: New fr Atlantic Canada
New Carb installed and now it's running great - thanks to my uncle who did the work.
It's looking good for putting the blade on my A. I'm assuming the rockshaft and lever unit I have will work with the blade. I'm hoping I can replace the lever unit with an electric winch though. If that doesn't work, I've seen where someone else has mounted a winch right to the pivot axle brace mounting plate. Its a straight pull from there. I'd rather have the winch mounted such that it uses the rockshaft. Hopefully then I could use it to lift the hillers and cultivators. Any thoughts on issues I might run into?
Unfortunately Covid is making it difficult to make progress because the tractor isn't in my garage yet. Might be next year before I get to plow snow with it.
In the meantime, I'm hoping to use it this summer to hill potatoes.

Re: New fr Atlantic Canada
Can a hydraulic unit from a Super A be retrofitted to an A? If so, I think you'd be a lot happier with hydraulics working the blade than a winch.
By the way, nice looking A! The wheel weights will be a big help. Welcome to the site!!

As Jim said, no...there is no flat area on the clutch housing to mount the Touch Control Block.

Re: New fr Atlantic Canada
On closer inspection of the blade manual the rockshaft looks a lot different compared to what’s currently on there for the cultivators. Looks like a winch on the mounting plate might work

Word of advice: Don’t throw away your old carb. Check out the How To Forum for help with disassembly and cleaning/rebuilding it. Choose a bad weather day and clean it up right. Then you’ll have a spare working carb.

Certainly will be rebuilding. The float is water logged and a jet is very stuck.

Re: New fr Atlantic Canada
Hi,
Be sure the gas filter you have in the gas line is made for a gravity flow fuel system.
They have said on the Cub forum that a gas filter for use with a gas pump can slow the gas flow, and cause problems.
If you have the package it came in, you could see if it says on the package, or ask where you bought it.

Re: New fr Atlantic Canada
Thanks for the tip. There's no screen on the sediment bowl currently but I hope to replace it and delete the filter. That's the plan anyway! The fuel tank was empty for quite some time so I'm going to run some gas through it first.
