193 Plow depth lever eye bolt (Updated w/mounted pics)

Postby grasser » Sat Aug 25, 2012 9:26 pm

So I needed a new eye bolt for my 193 plow and was thinking I'd need to buy one or rig something up when I came across this at the local hardware store: (Except mine was only 8" long)
http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/Produc ... =998082270

It's a 5/8" bolt hook. It was super easy to convert it into a near perfect replacement.
It's already got 5/8-11 threads, a head width that's about perfect, and has a pin pressed into it that's about 5/8".

I used a cutoff wheel to cut off the pin, then pressed it out. Then I drilled the hole out to 5/8" for the clevis pin that holds it to the dog bone.
Then I cut the threaded portion to length and cleaned up the threads.

That's it. I had about $6 in it and it bolted up perfectly.

I'm not saying it's gonna work for an original type replacement for the serious collector, but for a working tractor it's just fine.
Here's a before and a couple after pics.
Hope this helps some of you out.
