Indy4570 wrote:Hi Shane, what size front tires does your new 140 have and are they the same as your earlier acquisition? I am curious how close they are in years.

Indy, I was wrong. They both have 5.50-16’s. The 6 looks like a 5 on both of them unless you get on it close.

Pulled the muffler off lastnight and noticed the IH on top.

One of the valve shafts was leaking fluid. I didn’t want to have to pull the whole block so I tried to do it from the front. Got it done lastnight about 11:00. Got some orings from the local hydraulic shop. I didn’t know what size it was so i got all the 3/4” od ones they had.

Bought a set of front wheel weights, again. I’ve bought this same set twice. Bought two sets of weights a few months ago and sold these and traded the others. Didn’t think I’d ever have another 140 then got this one. Realized I needed some front weights the other day hauling wood on the platform carrier and ask the guy I sold these to if he wanted to get rid of them. He brought them by this morning. He let me have them back for what I sold them to him for.

Brought this 140 to work today so I can put a new clutch in it and fix a few other small things. I was hoping the awesome Rick Prentice made Cub wedges would work on it but they won’t.

Hi Shane,

Wow....that's a fantastic 140...congrats! Can you please tell me where the battery's original braided ground strap is bolted to the tractor? I've been unable to find that info anywhere, and although my 140 is also all original I cannot tell to which bolt it was attached to. I'd love a pic, but I'm sure you're busy....so just a good description would suffice. Glad you're taking the time to notice and document all the little details folks will be argueing about a few years down the road. Beautiful 140!

Thanks,
Bob

When I get around to undoing the wiring harness I will get you a picture of the cable. May be a week or two.

I just noticed these rear tires have “gum dipped” on the side. My dad bought an original 1960 something John Deere 110 a few years ago and it has gum dipped on the rear tires of it. That’s the only other place I’ve noticed it.
