Ummm............I don't think the clutch is up under the radiator. I think you have to split the tractor back by the transmission thingy and the clutch might be in there somewhere. At least that's what I read somewhere.

I didn’t trust my jenga tower so I bolted a piece of angle iron to one side after tacking it together.

A 140 steering housing doesn’t just drop out like a Cub. Turns out you have to remove the steering rod connector and woodruff key then remove the housing then 3 bolts holding the shaft and bearing in place. Had to put the hot wrench and tie rod remover tool on the steering rod to get it off. It’s tapered with a keyway.

He’s divorced.
Clutch disc doesn’t look bad at all. It was very jumpy though. Guess the pressure plate was weak. Looks to be original clutch with the yellow paint on the bolt heads.
The 140 uses a 2 piece rear main seal holder unlike the one piece on a Cub.
The starter ring is awful in two places, 180 degrees apart. I’ll flip it over and hopefully get another 47 years out of it.
The flywheel is fixing to hit the lathe and get a fresh face.

Flywheel has been machined. Took .006" off to clean it up.
Next was to turn starter ring around. Placed it on a piece of stock and heated it with torch until it swelled up and fell off.
Then turned the flywheel over and the ring and heated it until it swelled up and fell on.

Next was to change pilot bushing. I put some grease in it and since grease can’t be compressed something had to give. Got a piece of 7/8” stock and drove it in.
And there’s the bushing.
Installed new bushing then reamed it out so the clutch shaft doesn’t stick from being to tight.
Got new clutch and pressure plate on and also throw out bearing installed.

Shane, I don't know if the 140 is the same as the SA, regarding the timing mark on the flywheel, but if it is, this might be a great time to put a nice bright paint mark over it to make using a timing light easier!
Just a thought. Boy, the cub is so much easier with respect to this!

I looked all over and can't find a timing mark on this flywheel.
Yeah a Cub is much easier to handle than this, our Ford 4630 will be needing a clutch soon, think I'll let someone else tackle that. I don't have the capabilities to handle either half of it.

A 140 should have timing marks on the front pulley.

Thanks for the battery ground strap pic...........that's exactly what I needed to know. I got a laugh out of your "Jenga Tower" coment and was going to say something myself, but didn't think all the old farts on here would even know what a Jenga Tower was.

The new clutch is slicker than a peeled onion, my back and shoulders however are a different story. Should have found some help

Brought Norman to work today and swapped rear tires. Norman has almost new tires and Keeferdoodle has 47 year old dry rotted ones. I need to use it while I work on the other one until I can get new tires.
I bought a truck about 6 weeks ago and couldn’t find anybody to go with me so I hauled it home on the gooseneck, haven’t unhooked it yet so decided to put it to use. Little over kill for a small Farmall.
Brought him here behind the Toyota.
