Farmall A outter brake pedal

Postby Tb20 » Sat Mar 28, 2020 9:34 pm

Hey folks anyone removed the outter brake pedal on an A? I have the assembly off and on the bench I’ve got the tapered bolt out and I’ve had it soaking for a week I’ve tried heat but it will not budge. Are these pressed on?

What are you heating it with, a cutting torch or a small propane bottle for soldering?

Last time I took one apart, I put it in a vice and hit the end of the shaft with a big punch and bigger hammer.....

Yea I have tried that also. I guess my next step will be to use the demo hammer as a punch. I just don’t want to break the casting on the brake lever

Believe mine was mushroomed somewhat, which prevented easy removal. You might check that.

Try moving it the other way just to crack the rust and allow fluid to enter. ---sometimes this works with heat, and once it starts moving you can work it back and forth. My sa was wrecked and outer peddle is broke off ---only the stub hangin on the shaft.

I will try that this weekend and see how it goes.
