Touch control actuators

Postby thecoolstew » Thu Nov 19, 2020 11:40 am

When rebuilding the TC on my super A I didn't see any orange on the 2 actuators. There are 3 grooves on each, my question is do they require an oring if so which groove. Also my levers have a catch about half way when moved. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks...

I meant o-rings instead if orange

No. There are no o-rings along the length of the control valve. There should be one in the block where each sticks out for the control linkage to attach.

Thanks Jim, I should have been more precise, I was talking about the check valve actuator inside the check valves according to the TC diagram. Thanks for any help.

Are you referring to part #13 in the diagram below, "VALVE ACTUATOR"? (click on image to enlarge)

I don't believe there was an o-ring, at least in my disassembly photos below there aren't any:

PA059476 (Small).JPG

It has been a few years since I did this rebuild, and unfortunately, my hands were so messy, I took fewer photos than usual! What is confusing to me and my poor memory, is that the diagram has part #13B, "ACTUATOR SEAL RING", and I don't remember where that goes. Parts #10, 13B and 17 are all o-rings...maybe they ALL were on the CHECK VALVE REAR BUSHING, #13A.

Here is another exploded view from the Parts Manual, which shows a SECOND version of that part, which I believe MAY be what I had. I think part #13 (bushing) had the rear o-ring, #10, in the groove and the o-ring, #14 was simply seated on the forward part of the bushing. Part #13, actuator, has NO o-ring.

If you are not TOTALLY confused by now...you are better than I!!!

Dale, yes referring to #13 actuator, when I took my a part no o rings. I figured there must not be any until I saw the diagram with the 1 oring. With all of your input I'm going with no o rings there. Thanks so much for the help, now on to the control rods and why they are hard to move gonna switch out new oring maybe to thick.
