Heavy snow in the forecast

Postby Lt.Mike » Fri Jan 29, 2021 8:50 pm

Sunday into Tuesday we’ve got snow totals that could be as much as 2’.
Looks like I’ll get to see what the Super A is capable of plowing. ;)

Good luck Mike. Hope it exceeds your expectations. Looks like we are in for a double dose and some decent snow for a change.

Hope it slides south of you this time Tim .
You got buried on the last one which I imagine you’d rather not see again for awhile.
While I’m looking forward to putting the SA to work I’m not thrilled about having to set the alarm and go out every other hour to clear snow off the shelterlogic sheds. They are great dry storage but snow can crush them.
Crossing my fingers we don’t lose power either.

Lt. Mike, Your snow is on its way! 1/2" in last half hour. 01:16 am here in central Virginia. Suppose to wrap up 12:00 noon for us. Calling for 4-6 inches. I'm hoping for much less.

I am hooking up the 7' Arps snowblower to the 504...this could be a bad one

Gently use a shop broom from the inside to get the snow off the tarps so you don't punch holes in them

I use a snow roof rake. I covered the sharp edge with gorilla tape to avoid damaging the tarp. Been using it for a couple years now and it is the easiest solution. I used to bump the roof with a push broom from inside the shed but my torn shoulders could only take so much of that. The roof rake it much better.
I found it online at Home Depot. When I went there they had no clue what a roof rake was where it was or if they even had them. I told them that their website said it was in this isle and that bin, then had to point to five boxes of them way up on the top shelf.
They swore they didn’t have anything like that so when they discovered they had two different kinds in stock they ate a little crow. ;)
Anyway they work very well!

They backed off on the forecast some but adding up the separate totals, overnight, daytime, overnight again by the time it’s done we could get a foot. It’s not the 2’ they threw out there a couple days ago but the ocean air looks like it will save us again. Sorry to say Tim, John, I think you guys are going to be dealing with more.

Enjoy guys. Snow has moved on. 5" of heavy wet snow. Cub had a time pushing it. Snow didn't want to slide to the side even with the blade at 45 degrees. Fine misty rain from noon on. We now have 4" of heavy wet snow. It'll have a frozen crust in the morning. Drive is plowed, mail box clear and path to back door open. I'm done. It has kicked my 68 year old butt.
