I need A Wiring Diagram for 12-volt alternator Conversion

Folks,

I've searched for a wiring diagram for an A 12-Volt alternator conversion (distributor ignition), to no avail. I fairly confident that such a thing exists, however, I haven't been able to find it. Any help for finding it would certainly be appreciated.

I need to complete the 12V conversion on Landon's "49. Can someone give me specific info on the diode (part #) and a source, please

In the wiring diagram notes, it gives the diode part number, and when I Googled it, these choices popped up:

As you can see from Dale’s post, diodes are cheap and readily available. Her post lists a lot of 1 amp diodes, for durability sake, I prefer a little heavier capacity. The ones I currently have are 4 amp, still cheap, still readily available, just larger with heavier leads (still pretty small, though)

I am following this, Gary... a friend has a Cub that keeps draining the battery. It has a 12v conversion, & when I first heard that this could be caused by the alternator, I took the alternator to a shop to be tested. They said it was good, so I'm thinking maybe this diode is the solution.

Do you think the diode might help? Which diode do YOU recommend? Do you have a number for it? Thanks, and sorry to hijack the thread, but maybe it will help others here.

That depends, if it’s a one wire hook-up and draining the battery, the diode won’t help. If it’s a two or three wire, it may possibly help. First thing, see it it drains the battery with the alternator disconnected, that will help point you in the right direction. It may be something else, entirely.

Oh, I have no specific part number, I just googled 4 amp diode, found them 6.99 for 20 of them, free shipping.
