I'm waiting for parts to put my new to me 49 cub back into operating condition and----
searching through local craigslist found a running super A with real nice looking woods 59 mower the owner says it needs brakes
but included is a spare complete rear of tractor including transmission and finals. $1800
very tempting. I sure do have lots of mowing to do
should I hook up trailer and take a ride?

It depends on what a Super A is worth in your area.

good question, what's it worth. ive seen good looking cubs in the area and a 140 advertised on craigslist as high as $7500 I doubt they sold.
$3500 I think is the high end for a properly painted restored cub or super A but cubs are super popular it seems.
the tires look real good and has one new rear rim.
i'm retired but still have most of my tools and equipment, so im thinking it might cost $1000 or less to completely rebuild engine and restore it and shoot it with a coat of nason 2k urethane. but I'm guessing I have not seen it in person yet and have to do a compression test. if I get back into full wrench bending mechanic mode it will be an equally fun project next to this new cub I just got.

I agree, like potato chips, can't have just one. Wife & I found an A, then a 48 Cub and a 61 Lo Boy in the last 3 weeks.
