Exhaust liting system Farmall A

Postby AZ Gary » Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:43 pm

I have acquired a 1946 Farmall A with the parts, some on the tractor and some in a box for the exhaust activated lifting system. Does anyone have a manual for this, or any information?
Thanks in advance

I saw that after you posted here, you got some responses over on YT. If you still have questions, post a follow up, either here or there.

I would like a manual or some pictures showing one installed I never seen one and up to purchasing I never heard of one. I have no attachments but would like to get it installed and them go from there.

I got a operating and parts manual ordered form ebay. As I go along I'm sure I'll have more questions. Any body got one that works? If so does it work satisfactory to lift an implement? I don't have any implements as yet but later on may fix something up.

I have one that I think works. But it is on a tractor that currently doesn't work, so I don't know for sure.

I had an article in Red Power back in 9/2003. If you can't easily put your hands on that issue, I can email you scans of it.

Maybe these threads will help a little.

I was told by a guy that junked one that they were a joke. I only saw his one time before he junked it and his did not work. had no lifting power and was so slow it wasnt funny. Thats all I know about them.
Dont think they were successful or you would see a bunch of them on the A's and C's and whatever other models they were offered on.

I drove an A with one back in the 50"s so can not be of any real help. The only thing I can remember was that it was s..l..o..w and not what I would call very powerful especially when compared with a hydraulic system. If the engine wasn't running fast you were down to a snail pace. That said if you want such a thing as a collector and not serious use go for it. Vern

AZ Gary, sorry I'm late to the party. There's some parts information in the Farmall A-B Parts Catalog TC-26F OCF.pdf located in our PDF Manuals section. Starts at page 145 of the catalog (page 151 of the PDF document).

If I get it going it will only be for show. I have been to quite a few shows around the country and I don't remember seeing one with that set up, but of course I wasn't looking for it. I have ordered a manual hopefully it will help me understand how it is supposed to be connected up. Thanks for all the inf. I'm sure I will need more help and probably some parts if available.

If you need parts, place your WANTED ad in the Vine sub-forum. Thanks.
