Farmall A 1947

Postby AZ Gary » Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:56 pm

I have to put on a new brake band on the left side (the short side) of my 1946 A. Will I need to remove the cover plate on top of the transmission to do this?

No. You will need to jack that corner up from under the transmission housing. As I recall, there is a jacking pad there. Be sure to wedge the front axle. It is a very similar job to doing the same on a Cub. You can probably find a how-to for a Cub on this site.

Here is an older post of mine. It is the more complex right side, but should be similar. Good luck!
