Hello Everyone,
A few years ago I picked up a 140 with a sickle mower.
I fixed the mower up, and got it in working order, but the sickle was not in the best condition.
Tonight I knocked sections out, and was going to replace them with some that I got at a tractor show.
So my questions is, how much difference is there in the sections? They are the same shape, and look to be the same, all except the holes seem to be spaced slightly different. I would say about 1/ 32.
The worn out sections have the I-H logo stamped into them. The ones that I am trying have a john deere logo on them.
So can these be interchanged between brands?
Thank you all..

Re: sickle mower sections
No. Herschel, a supplier of replacement parts, shows virtually no overlap between IH and JD sections. If your new sections have a part number, you might find out what they fit by searching for it on Herschel's site.

Re: sickle mower sections
This may be helpful to you. Your mower would use the same parts.

Re: sickle mower sections
Thank you guys. Yes this is very helpful. Wow! there are a lot of different styles of these..
Dad rebuilt several of these for his Cub mower, while I was growing up, but all I did was help him hold the end while he riveted them in place.
Unfortunately, He is not in a condition to ask anymore, so I was in the dark about this process. It should be pretty straight forward with the part list, and and the web site provided.
I know a guy who might be able to use the sections that I have in a J D combine, and will get them to him. No point in me keeping them around.
