A60 Trip Blade

Postby ShawnAgne » Fri Nov 26, 2021 7:09 pm

Have the A60 converted over to a trip blade now per Ricky's plans.

Image

Switched stuff up a little got the 1/2" eye bolts with a shoulder to give some more rigidity. Used these on both sides of the spring attachment point as using the thread adapter and drilling a hole was kind of a PITA on the Cub.

Use the same eye bolt on the 90degree bracket with the gusset under neath with a 3/8" clip and then the heavy chain attaching to the middle. Regardless of being a trip blade or not I started using 1/2" clevis pins on the middle mounting point, then 3/4" clevis pins on the outer points.

These springs 10" aren't heavy enough its all my local hardware store had just bought them so I could get it all setup will get a heavier set from McMaster Carr and then run them both. I'll do a 90 degree rotation on the eye bolts and then they both should fit.

Next project is the boots. Going to try and see if I can't figure something out using castor wheels as I'm not a fan of the skids

Great job Shawn!! :applause: :applause: :applause: As much as I love the power angle on my Cub blade, if I could only do one modification to the blade it would be the trip. Give us some feedback on the performance of the modified plow once you spend some time plowing snow! :{_}:

Good mod and wish I had that last winter. Was plowing with my SA and it had enough grunt that when the edge caught the end of my driveway it didn’t stop but flipped up a manhole cover sized chunk of blacktop

I really second Mike that there is a lot more grunt with the a-140 plowing snow than with the cub. This is a good mod to do.

I used the cub to plow 600-foot driveway and then use the 140 to move the piles deeper into the grass so the blade on the 140 was only down on grass - that was how concerned I became with what I could do the driveway.

The plan is for the 100 to be the heavy snow mover. The only time I encountered stuff with the Cub I couldn't push was the stuff we got last feb that was a lot and heavy. Still need to get my chains for the 100.
