Pulling touch control valves
The touch control wouldn't hold the A60 blade so since we don't have snow forecasted yet, and I have the Cub ready to go if there is a surprise I pulled the touch control block and decided to rebuild it. Just wanted to say the automotive valve removal kit with slide hammer from Harbor Freight makes pulling those valves a VERY quick and easy process. Tried doing the pliers thing but it wasn't going anywhere very quickly. Use the HF tool and bam done in a couple minutes.

Can you post a link to the tool? I'm not sure I understand what tool it is. Thanks!

Re: Pulling touch control valves
It is the slide hammer and bearing pulling tool
https://www.harborfreight.com/slide-ham ... DsQAvD_BwE
The two smaller attachments pull all the valves in the touch control.

Re: Pulling touch control valves
I would love to see one of these rebuilt sometime. Before I tear mine down. Has anyone seen a youtube video on rebuilding one?

Re: Pulling touch control valves
Workinonit, if you decide to try rebuilding yours, these 2 HOW TO's will help a lot. There's one for either the early-style block or the later, depending on the Touch Control block part number.
Early style:

Re: Pulling touch control valves
I assume you are asking about a kit for the Super A Touch Control?

Re: Pulling touch control valves
My touch control unit appears to have the number 354353R1 which I don't see listed in any of the kits. It is possible one or both of the last 3s is an 8 but I don't think so. I don't see any combination of those numbers anyway. Any suggesstions?

Re: Pulling touch control valves
I believe 354353R1 is the part number for the head. You need to check the number of the block.

Re: Pulling touch control valves
Jim, you are probabably correct. That number is on the head of the TU. I have everything disconnected and ready to lift out. I have to get my JD loader on tomorrow so I can do that. I will look then. This unit is in bad need of some TLC. When you look at these 140s they seem so simple but the lift system is an engineering marvel when everything is working. I finally got my serial numbers off. I have a '74 and a '75.
