Hey everyone -
I have a 140 that I decided to convert. I bought a 63 Amp Delco Alternator. Single wire with built in regulator. New 12v coil and also a universal base bracket kit from yesterday’s tractors. I have the alternator mounted on the tractor however As it is now higher than the generator I can’t get the belt over the pulley - just barely. It’s a roughly 43.5” belt from my rough measurement. Question is should I try and mount it differently so the current belt fits or should I get a slightly longer belt if I can find one. I have another 140 that’s 12v which I’ll include a photo of how its alternator is mounted - through a different hole with different style bracket.
Thank you very much

Re: 140 12v conversion
I would purchase a longer belt.
Other option is to remove lower mounting bolt, tip the alternator to install the belt. Replace the bolt.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: 140 12v conversion
I used the same alternator on my 140. I could not get a universal bracket to fit properly nor anything from the a-130. The front flange on the engine is different than the C123 in the 130. I could not get the pulleys to line up. I have purchased two brackets from this seller on ebay and both fit well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/324912288780.
If the pulleys line up getting a new belt will be cheaper and faster as long as you are happy with the everything else of the current setup.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
