One point lift height
Good evening. I just purchased a new 6 foot rear blade for my late model 140 and at full lift height it only clears the ground by 5 inches. Is there a way to increase the lift height, or is that all I got? This blade is a little taller overall than the 5 foot blade I replaced but that actually only cleared the ground by about 6 inches. When I have my two bottom plow on it the leading point only clears the ground by about 1 inch. Even with my disk, it hardly clears the ground when it’s in the full up position. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you adjusted the height lever next to the seat?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I don’t think I know what that is… And you’re not referring to the touch control levers are you?

Forget what I said above. I was thinking it was a fast hitch. Do you have a pic of how it is mounted?

Re: One point lift height
Yes. It is a fast hitch. It has the one point coupler.

I need to get off my meds. That is probably why I answered with a fast hitch answer the first time. Isn't the 140 supposed to have a height adjustment lever on the right side of the seat like a Cub has?

Re: One point lift height
For a 140, forget the lever Barnyard mentioned. Do what he was suggesting by using the other Touch-Control lever to lower the front of the hitch.
On a Cub, you can get a little more lift by turning the nut on the back of the lift link that runs from the Touch-Contol to the back of the tractor. Another possibiity is adding a spacer there. Sometimes you can gain a little by inverting the lower rockshaft bearings. I'm not that familiar with the 140 one-point, so don't know if these suggestions can apply to it. The arm on the rear (upper) rockshaft where the lift link attaches has 2 holes. Maybe changing to the other hole will gain some.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I really appreciate it. I tried switching holes on the left leg and that didn’t do anything. I will try tightening the nut up and see if that helps. Thanks again

Re: One point lift height
You peobably need a spacer behind the nut on the rear of your main lifting rod.

Re: One point lift height
Second, in looking at the attachment of the lower frame to the tractor, it looks like there are upper and lower holes. Thinking about the geometry, if the frame was in the upper holes it should lift higher. Am i thinking about this right?

There is a parts description of the Fast Hitch in Part 3 of the Super A Parts Catalog in the PDF Manuals section.

Re: One point lift height
I believe the upper holes in your pic

Is for the rear tool bars for cultivators!
Now what Barnyard is talking about is on a cub there is a crank on the right side by your knee, but on the 140 there is a link arm that goes from the front of your fast hitch (under the front of your foot platform) up to the touch control rockshaft on the right side of your touch control.
One of your touch control levers (probably the left one) raises and lowers the the fast hitch.
The other lever (I am thinking the one on the right) raises and lowers the front part of your fast hitch (under your feet while on the platform)!
If you lower the front part of the fast hitch with the right touch control lever your blade cutting edge will go up higher!
Please post a pic that includes your touch control and the front part of your fast hitch from the right side of the tractor.
It is possible your fast hitch is hooked up ridgid in the front, and you do not have the link that goes from the touch control to the front of the fasthitch!

Re: One point lift height
Thanks Sam. I do have the draft control linkage and it is functional. With that all the way down, my max lift height (bottom of blade to ground) is 6 inches. Maybe my expectations are too hi….

Using the lower hole in your pic should gain you some lift height.
