Which one ???

Postby Magnum » Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:35 am

I have an a i really like to use. So the problem was , very hard to start cold and nearly impossible after it was running . I replaced the coil and condenser it runs as it should now . My question is , was it the coil or the condenser ? Both were brand new 3 years ago .

Leave your new coil alone and replace your new condenser with the old one. See how it starts/operates. If no change, then I would assume it was the coil.

Hard starting, ran like crap, condenser.

Check your multi-meter. Some have settings for testing condensers.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I had a lot of problems with ignition parts a year or two ago especially point and condensers. I had two sets of points where the spring broke. I switched to using Napa parts. They are more expensive but you can see they are of different quality at least with the points and cap. You can't tell looking at the capacitor.

Cub cap, Part Number: ECH IH350
Cub Rotor, Part Number: ECH IH300
Cub Points, Part Number: CS1600
Cub Condenser, Part Number: IH200

Starting issues I would go with the condenser. Not starting after it was hot I would go with the coil. You had both issues so maybe it was both.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
