140 Governor
Hey, thought I would share this one as it had me scratching my head for a while to figure it out, Have a 140 came in and would not throttle up, ran fine, after linkage check etc I knew the issue must be n the governor, , took the housing off, checked the thrust bearing, shaft, all appeared in good shape, , reassemble and fire it up the throttle worked correctly once then back to the same issue so after swearing at it and looking at it sum more it finally hit me, there is a plastic spacer pushed by the flyweights and it pushes on the thrust bearing, what was happening the plastic bushing was worn down from the friction of the last 60 years and when it throttled up the flyweights kicked it out so it could not return, to look at the bushing the wear you would never see, parts and shop manual tell nothing about the length it should be, to look at it you could not tell anything was wrong

Re: 140 Governor
This is from Steiner
0.940" outside diameter
0.510" inside diameter
1.090" length
PN 363866R1
If the 1.090 is correct for the OEM part I guess you can check the overall length with verniers as a way to troubleshoot.
I was inside 2 140 governers last year. I do not remember if I replaced the plastic bushings on both and one does have a slight throttle-up issue. I thought the issue was the spring. The parts manuals call out several springs for the C123 and I thought I had the wrong spring.
Thanks Tim!!

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
