I know of no where you can buy a 12 volt starter for a 140 new, you will have to get a used one or have yours rebuilt. We [ Spaulding Equipment Co] will not sell you a rebuilt one if you dont have a core. They are that hard to find.

Boss Hog

Napa does offer a number of rebuilt starters and alternators. I was just seeing if and members have found one at NAPA

Eugene the one on and DB shows the pull start starter. I need one with a stud.

guess it is a rebuild

Delco Numbers are : 1107328, 1109353
The Lester Number is : 4242
The Napa number above came from a Lester cross reference, I don't know whether or not Napa carries the part anymore.
This is the 12V Starter, with a threaded stud. Fits the International and Farmall 140 from 65-79.
All of the Internal parts are available through my electrical wholesaler, even the armature, but no remans are available.
Unless your nosecone is cracked, a good starter shop should be able to rebuild yours if you can't find a remanufactured unit.
There is a Trappe Generator Service in Trappe, PA that looks to be closest ERA (Electrical Rebuilder Assoc) member. I don't know them, but might be worth a call or visit.

I have used trappe many times they have been very good. They rebuilt this starter 2 years ago. I was just seeing if there was an option.

It smoked over the weekend. smoke coming out of the inspection hole. I think the solenoid stuck not enough to turn the engine but enough to pass current. I end up cutting the battery cable with bolt cutters. cables and starter were both very hot. When I pulled the starter the Bendix was forward and the stater smelled. I pulled the battery and no visible damage behind the dash.

I notice this is listed as unavailable online. I suppose they won't sell you one unless walk into one of their locations with a core in hand.

p
Eugine, you can only get the 6 volt ones, they dont have a listing for a 12volt

If yawl can find a source for the 140 12 volt starter let me know.
Cause we have not been able to get a new one or rebuilt one unless you send them a core to rebuild for over 10 years, as I said on the get go.
