Grill and year

My Farmall 140 has the white vertical grill guard with the real small holes. I was told the year was between 61 and 63 but the seller wasn't 100% sure. I know they can be changed out and swapped over the years but this one was in the family since new and according to the seller the grill had not been changed. Anyone know the year the vertical grills were used?

On there is a picture of an " Early (pre-1963) Farmall 140 with white horizontal grill". I guess in 63 they when to the other grill

Serial numbers and casting codes are better than sheet metal to identify the year of a tractor

Casting codes D,E,F,G,H,J for 1958-63 in that order, note i was not ever used except in 1939.

i believe that style grille came out when the 140 became 12 volt

Per the Parts Catalog, the grille changed at serial 23301. The change to 12 volts was at 26801. Timewise, both came at about the same time the Cubs got the corresponding changes.
