size of pin to hold bendix on armature sharft

Postby inairam » Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:16 am

The pin holding the Bendix on the armature shaft sheared off on one of my 140s. It was aftermarket and hollow. I looked at my other 140 and it is a solid pin. It is not coming up as available. I do not want to drive the good pin out just to measure it.

item 15 PN 1963637 PIN, armature shaft

Does anyone know the size of the pin so I can get it on McMaster Carr?
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

That part number is shared with 12-volt Cubs. Even so, probably not many or those starters kicking around in pieces. Knock the broken one out and measure the hole? Measure the part of the good pin that is exposed (able to measure one direction without knocking it out?)? Roll pins are pretty durable, consider the broken one a fluke and put in another one, maybe a spirol pin?
