good morning All,
I recently bought a farmall super C for my farm and would like to convert it to 12volts. I worked on cars and now currently work on Semi trucks so rewiring it shouldn't be a issue. so my question is can I keep all the orgional wiring the same the last guy to own it installed a new wire harness on it. the other question I have so Im going to delete the generator, regulator and install a alternator. delete the 6volt battery gauge and install a 12 volt gauge. I noticed some people install a resistor and keep there old points and coil the same. should I go that route or should I install a 12 volt coil and points and not have the resistor? if you have a second to help a farmall friend out that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
BIG JAKE

Re: 6 to 12volt conversion
Welcome to the FORUM. 12v voltmeter should be OK (I have one done that way) Resistor depends on whether you install a 12v coil with internal resistor. If you keep the old 6v coil, install the resistor between the power source and coil. If you change to a 12v coil w/o the internal resistor, install the external resistor between the 12v coil and the points to keep from burning them. There's quite a bit of info on the CUB FORUM and probably in the HOW TO forum, check the INDEX PAGE and/or use the search feature, top right corner of the page.
